Judging

The judges are all seasoned professionals, are not associated with Sanlam and have been appointed in consultation with the Forum of Community Journalists.  Their decisions will be final and no written or verbal debate will be entered into.

The judges may co-opt additional judges.

Provided that entries of a sufficiently high standard are received, one prize will be awarded in each section, at the judges' discretion.

The adjudicators are free to recommend that additional awards be made.

Criteria

The judging criteria, determined by the FCJ and outlined in the various category descriptions, will apply for judging.

Acknowledgements

The criteria were partly taken from those used in previous Sanlam competitions and the Mondi Shanduka Newspaper Awards.

Awards ceremony

The prizes will be presented at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban, on 19 September 2008.

However, attendance will be on invitation only, with travel and accommodation arrangements to be made by the guests themselves and expenses for guests' own accounts.
