How to enter
Where possible entries for print and online media should preferably be submitted electronically or by e-mail. Submitting hard copies is the only option for entries from broadcast media.
Only one entry, per participant, per section will be allowed, except for journalists at broadcast media who may submit radio and TV work as separate entries. A participant may submit entries for more than one section, but each entry must have its own entry form and be submitted separately.
An entry consists of five articles/reports/recordings or transcriptions. However, for the special section Development Economics, any number up to five will be accepted.
Material submitted will not be returned.
Please ensure that there are clear indications of the dates on which the material was published/broadcast/ distributed (that is, between 1 January and 31 December of the competition year).
-
Online submission (designed for Internet Explorer 5.x)
Once you have selected the material to be entered in the various sections, merely access and complete the Entry form: Print and Internet media, attach the selected files as indicated in Word compatible format and click on Submit. Your entry will be acknowledged automatically. If you have more than one, repeat this procedure for each additional entry.
-
Ordinary e-mail submission
If your workstation does not allow online submission but the material you want to enter is available electronically in Word compatible format, simply use ordinary e-mail.
Prepare a message to andre.coetzee@sanlam.co.za with your personal and other information requested on the entry form in the body text. Clearly indicate the section you are entering and the headlines and dates of your material. You may either add the material as attachments (or "copy and paste" them in your message) and then send.
Repeat the procedure for additional entries.
Note: Attachments in PDF format will be accepted but please ensure that the copy will be easily legible if the original material is reduced electronically.
-
Submissions in hard copy
If hard copies from your files, original cuttings or photocopies of material are submitted, they should not be bound in files and must not exceed A4 format or be condensed/reduced to A4. Complete the entry form, print it and mail or courier it with the supporting material to:
Frans van Rensburg Sanlam Limited PO Box 1 Sanlamhof 7532 (2 Strand Road, Bellville)
Please mark the envelope "Sanlam Awards for Excellence in Financial Journalism".
-
Broadcast and Rich Media submissions
Reporters/presenters/producers working for both radio and television broadcasters may submit an entry in each of these disciplines.
Audio and video podcasting submissions from entrants at online media are also accepted.
An entry consists of:
