The aim of the competition is to encourage the writing of youth literature aimed at readers from 12 to 18 years.

The competition will be judged in six categories: Afrikaans, English, Nguni, Sotho languages, Tshivenda and Xitsonga.

For the purposes of this competition, the organisers require a novel in which technology plays a part.

Prize money

Two prizes will be awarded in each category:

Gold:  R12 000
Silver:  R6 000

Tafelberg Publishers will publish the winning novels. The judges reserve the right not to award a prize, should the quality of the entries not be up to standard.
