How does it work?
The theme for the 2008 version of the Sanlam Inter-university Creativity for Progress Competition is "A better life for people in informal settlements".
To take part in this competition, student teams must, in collaboration with their faculties, present a project or business proposal that provides innovative solutions aligned with the above-mentioned theme. Innovative solutions in the form of better living conditions, better medical facilities, access to water and electricity etc. With the background of Law, Engineering, Medical and Architectural Studies, this theme fits in and can be applied to almost any study field to come forth with practical solutions.
First round: The first round of the competition will take place between the faculties of the same university in order to determine the winning faculty per university. A total of 16 inter-faculty or campus winners will be selected from all the participating academic institutions.
National heats: The winners of each university will go through to the heats on national level. At this level, a board of judges compiled by the Sanlam Group will determine the winners. Four semi-finalists will be selected.
