Mabaso
Mr Mabaso is the Group Chief Information Officer and was appointed as a member of Group Exco on 1 January 2022. He also serves as Chair of the Sanlam Group Technology Council which serves as a council for the Sanlam Group Exco as well as the Limited and Life Risk and Compliance Committee of the Sanlam Board. Externally Mr Mabaso also serves as Vice Chair of the University of the Western Cape IT Advisory Board.
Mr Mabaso previously held the position of Executive for Group Infrastructure Services within the Sanlam Group. He was previously the Director of Enterprise Technologies, Cloud and Regional Datacentres across 12 African markets for Barclays Africa where he was responsible for the digitalisation of the bank’s technology platforms. Mr Mabaso also held executive roles in Absa Bank, and senior technology roles in the Standard Bank Group, IBM Global Services, MultiChoice, and the IQ Business Group. Mr Mabaso has over 20 years of experience in technology and financial services across Africa and global markets.
Mr Mabaso’s academic background includes a BSc specialising in Computer Science and Informatics, an MBA degree, and an Executive Leadership Programme (GIBS).
