During 2018, we contributed towards the establishment of the Tembisa Community Hub and the operational costs of YES. This included payment for a computer lab and training facility.
We are also bringing youth into various Sanlam businesses and funding learners in targeted small and medium-sized enterprises under the guidance of the YES management team. Sanlam Personal Finance will, for example, accommodate 150 learners with the intent of absorbing them into the mainstream business upon completion of a 12-month contract. The contract will include academic, practical recruitment assessments, on-boarding and induction training in the designated department.
We will look further opportunities to contribute toward this initiative in 2019.
