Vision and Values

SIM Eswatini works along the vision and values of Sanlam which are:

  • Acting with integrity
  • Growing shareholder value through innovation and superior performance
  • Leading with courage
  • Serving with pride
  • Caring because there is respect for one another

SIM manages a broad range of portfolios for various clients:

  • Institutional clients include corporate entities, retirement funds, long-term insurers, short-term insurers, and medical schemes;
  • Retail portfolios include funds such as unit trusts for individuals and smaller investments from institutional investors.

Our investment platform caters for a wide range of products and capabilities. Our products and portfolios are packaged as follows:

  • Segregated portfolios, which are structured to suit a client’s risk profile and preferences, and are suited to large institutional clients. The underlying assets are registered in the name of the client.
  • Pooled portfolios, which are risk-profiled, are suitable for small and medium retirement funds and are underwritten, using the Sanlam Life insurance licence. The underlying assets are pooled together and unitised, and each client owns units in the pooled portfolio.

Typical portfolios include:

  • Sanlam Investment Management Balanced Fund
  • SIM Swaziland Money Market Fund
  • The fund will seek to maximise interest income whilst ensuring capital preservation, always allowing a fair level of equity. The fund will invest in a range of short-term money market products available exclusively in Swaziland Lilangeni.

  • Yekucala Infrastructure Fund
  • The fund will invest mainly in property, energy, health and ICT with a strong focus on public private partnerships. The fund is suited for infrastructure with a relatively short period so that investor returns are realised as soon as possible.

FSRA Marathon

The inaugural Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) Marathon 42km race, took place on 2 October 2015 at Somhlolo National Stadium. The event was a success and saw runners from neighbouring countries partaking in the race. Sanlam Investments Eswatini sponsored with a waterpoint at the 18km mark. The team did a stellar job in making sure runners were well hydrated at this point in the race.

Looking forward to next year’s event and a growth in the number of runners.

Mahamba Gorge Hiking

Nestled in the serene hills of Mahamba in the Shiselweni region is Mahamba Gorge. One of Eswatini’s best-kept secrets. The small town of Nhlangano was abuzz with activity on the weekend of the annual Mahamba Gorge Hiking Event. In the second year running for the event, the turnout to this annual walk was impressive with a recorded 5 000+ participants.

Sanlam Investments Eswatini has been sponsoring the event since inception. We vow to continue contributing to the development of the Shiselweni region.
