Ms Skweyiya is an Independent Non-Executive Director of Sanlam Limited. She was appointed to the Board of Directors on 18 October 2022.
The Board appointed her as an expert in several business sectors and fields that include mergers and acquisitions, private equity, development finance, empowerment transactions and structured corporate finance.
She is an Independent Non-Executive Director of Woolworths.
Ms Skweyiya assumed her first professional role in 1997 at White & Case in New York and moved to the Johannesburg office in 1998. She later joined Citigroup as a resident Vice-President in the Corporate Finance team before moving to Nedbank’s Structured & Leveraged Debt Team as a senior transactor focusing on building the acquisition finance business.
She joined Wipcapital as a manager of Debt Products in 2002 where she was involved in domestic and cross-border transactions in excess of R6-billion.
An admitted attorney of the New York State Bar (United States), Ms Skweyiya holds a B. Proc and an LLB (University of KwaZulu-Natal [then the University of Natal]), an LLM (Harvard University) and a H.Dip Tax (University of the Witwatersrand).
